A new state of the art method of reconstructing tooth restorations his called Chairside Economical Restorations of Aesthetic Ceramic or CEREC. CEREC uses CAD (Computer-Assisted Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) which allows for a single day restoration. Traditionally a patient has to wait two weeks for a crown to be molded, created, and sent back to the office. Now crowns and veneers can be created same-day, eliminating the need for a second appointment.
CEREC Is a revolutionary restorative process, here are some of the benefits:
CEREC uses CAD/CAM Technology in only one visit to design and create custom restorations. First of all, you will have an examination and Dr. John-Varghese will determine if this process is right for you.
Optical Impression
A 3-dimensional image of your tooth will be created from a digital scan. This image will create the necessary foundation and impression in order to create the restoration without the need to take a messy impression. The computer and software then convert the digital image into a 3 dimensional model of your tooth.
Milling Unit
The milling unit is a device that is used to create the custom restoration. Dr. John-Varghese will select the correct color ceramic block and within minutes will be able to place the milled tooth into your mouth and adjust it accordingly so that your bite will be perfect.
Placing and Restoration
After your new crown has been created, it is ready to be bonded and polished and your bite will be adjusted as necessary. One of the great benefits of this is no need of a temporary restoration and no need of a return trip which will save you time, pain and money.
